The seventeen double suites have been tastefully decorated. They are spacious and luxurious with big comfy beds, large en suite bathrooms, private lounge area with large flat screen TV, honesty fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning and separate entrances with ample secure parking - everything you need to enjoy and relax. Free wi fi internet access is available too, if you have to check your email!

We have four types of suites: the Superior/Honeymoon Suites are just right for a honeymooners or romantic getaway with someone special; the Family Suites are perfect for families with two to three children; the Luxury Double Suites are ideal for holidaymakers and business travelers; and the Self-Catering Suites.

Start your day with a traditional farmhouse breakfast and at the end of the day enjoy a candlelit braai – both  are specialities at Mooiplaas. We’ll also prepare light meals and picnic baskets for you (dinner and light meals by prior arrangement). We'll advice you on where to eat out and be happy to make a reservation for you at one of the fine local restaurants.

Activities available are hiking/walking, jogging, mountain bikes, and swimming pool. Don’t miss a private tour of our ostrich farm where you will learn interesting facts about ostriches and the famous feather industry. Get up close to these curious birds and feel the thrill of seeing a baby chick peck its way into this brand new world. Our on-site registered tour guide is available to help you plan your trips in the area.

Mooiplaas is ideally located. It is in the peaceful countryside yet only 10 km from Oudtshoorn which offers much to do and see. It is the Ostrich Capital of the world, close to the world famous Cango Caves, and whether you are looking for adventure, sports, culture or wish to relax and enjoy the pure tranquility of the countryside, you will find it here!

All rooms have their own entrances. The suites are spacious and luxurious. Each has a separate lounge area, bedroom and huge modern bathroom. And from your suite’s patio, you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Swartberg Mountains and Oudtshoorn.

Family Suites

We are family people so we welcome and cater for the needs of families and our 'younger guests'.

We have 4 family suites, each sleeps 4 people. Three family suites have a king bed, full bathroom (bath and shower) and a lounge area. One family suite has a queen bed, shower bathroom and two single beds in the lounge area.

If the family consists of more than 2 children, we can connect another family suite through inter-leading doors to give extra accommodation and space.

All family suites are on ground level with a separate entrance and have spectacular views of the gardens and Swartberg Mountains. You can even see the town of Oudtshoorn from the front porch.

Baby sitting services are available at a nominal cost and we will gladly arrange early dining hours for children.

Attractions

Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world. Today it offers this and so much more to its visitors. Whether you are interested in culture, looking for the extreme sports and adventure, or looking for peace and quiet, you will find it here. The area is historically and culturally rich and there are several museums to visit as well as local culture centres.  Situated in the heart of the Klein Karoo, the attractions are: the world famous Cango Caves; and the Swartberg Mountains with its three amazing passes, the Swartberg Pass, Meiringspoort, and Seweweekspoort.

There are also great opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlifeat the Cango Wildlife Ranch which also has one of the leading cheetah breeding programmes.  Close by you can walk with meerkats at the Meerkat Magic conservation project.  Take a ride on the famous Route 62 that takes you through picturesque towns and winre routes.  Shoppers will find much to browse and buy.  The area boasts are several fine restaurants serving fine food and specializing in local cuisine.
